Lynne Stenlund, BA, ARCT, RMT, Certified RCM Teacher
Lynne was born and raised in Chatham, Ontario and received her early musical training in Chatham and Windsor. Later, she pursued senior piano studies at the University of Western Ontario and upon graduating, established a private teaching studio in London. A few years later she moved to Windsor where she founded and presently operates the Gold Medal Music Academy. Her intensive summer theory courses became very popular with local music students and it was this teaching setting that inspired her to take on the project of creating resources for RCM theory and history. Students using these materials have achieved high marks in examinations, many receiving First Class Honours with Distinction.
A number of Lynne’s students have achieved top awards and standings in music festivals and conservatory examinations. The honours include the Royal Conservatory's Silver Medal for the top examination mark in the province and the Chatham Kiwanis Festival's Silver Tray for the top pianist. Additionally, her students have been chosen by festival adjudicators to compete in Provincials and to perform in festival Awards Concerts. In 2022, Lynne made the decision to retire from piano teaching but continues to instruct online theory.
Lynne is a RCM Certified Teacher with Advanced Specialist designation in piano and theory. She is also a member of the Ontario Registered Music Teachers’ Association having held two terms as branch president. In 2008, she was nominated by her branch to receive the organization's Contribution to Teaching Award.
